Hi there thanks for visiting ... as you may have guessed my name is Rob, I am 33 years old, married , living in South africa and drawing pictures for  living.

... life is pretty good...

A Short CV

I was born in South Africa studied Fine Art at the Kwa-zulu Natal Art and Design Institution. After graduating with a distinction in 1997 I spent a number of years traveling and working in a variety of creative fields including furniture design, bronze casting and the film industry. My true passion, however, has always been illustration, and since deciding to pursue this field more seriously I have had my work published in over 20 different books and publications. I also won first prize in the Coca Cola Young South African designers competition in 2007.
In August of 2007 I moved to Japan with my wife and have subsequently worked for a number of Japanese publishers including AEON, Benesse and Pearson Longman.

Since returning to South Africa in August 2010 Things continue to grow I have been lucky enough to make some great contacts and am finally doing the job that I love full time! I have been working hard on a graphic novel/illustrated journal which is currently traveling around the world on the Sketchbook tour ... Check out New Stuff for details

About my work

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember...  my inspiration comes from the world around me and somewhere inside my head near the back on the left. Although hard to define a style that is still developing I am particularly drawn (pun?) to children and animals and hope to convey some of the innocence which all of us still possess. Veering towards the light side of life I always aim to  include lots of humor in my work and love it if my art can make you smile or laugh or even snort. I  began a passionate affair with the coloured pencil at a young age which continued to this day, I also love working in pen and ink, pencil, pastel, watercolours and acrylic and have recently begun procreating with illustrator, photoshop and flash.
